Since being awarded Specialist School status in ICT, the Specialist School Team have been really busy putting all their plans into action. To find out a little more about the Team.

Name: Mrs H Mairs
Role: Vice Principal (Responsible for the Community Plan)
Responsibilities: Liaising with all personal on specialist school team to
ensure that targets our met. Member of the strategic team with
Mr Graham and Dr Pinkerton.
Plans for the next 6 months: That saved targets are met according to our
specialist school plan.
Prior Experience/Knowledge: I have worked with our Feeder Primary school and community partners over the past (at least 10 years). This strengthens the links.
Name: Dr M Pinkerton
Role: Vice Principal (Responsible for the School Plan)

Plans for the next 6 months: To make good progress within the
Specialist School Plan
Prior Experience/Knowledge: Teaching 23 years within Girls Model School and for 4 years within Hunter House. Prior knowledge and experience in “nothing and everything”.
Name: Mrs P Leitch
Role: Senior Teacher
Responsibilities: Head of Sixth Year, Public Relations, Community Aspect of the Specialist School
Plans for the next 6 months: As per plan
Prior Experience/Knowledge: Teaching 26 years within Girls Model School
Name: Mrs C Chisim
Role: Teacher in charge of Staff ICT Training
Responsibilities: Teaching staff how to access software programmes such Microsoft Applications and Promethean Activboard.
Plans for the next 6 months: At least 50% of staff to have achieved promethean foundation certification

Name: Chris Browne
Role: Specialist School ICT Technician
Responsibilities: Primarily to help support the ICT equipment and
user accounts for both the Girls Model and the local primary Schools
associated with the Specialist School’s C2K network
Plans for the next 6 months: Hopefully to find my feet (and
Remember everyone’s name) as well as learn as much as I can about the school network.
Prior Experience/Knowledge: I worked as an ICT Technician within the Boys Model, for my placement year as part of my Degree. Additionally, I have worked
as a callout engineer for Hewlett Packard.
Name: David MacDermott
Role: Webmaster
Responsibilities: Design and implementation of a new school
Website and Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) together known
as Virtual Learning Partnership (VLP). This will involve training
pupils and staff how to use the VLP. Additional responsibilities include
web and design related tasks.
Plans for the next 6 months: To have the VLP up and ready to be used.
Prior Experience/Knowledge: Two years working on the University of Ulster VLE and one year working for the BBC Education Online Department.
Name: Lynn McKeever
Role: Virtual Learning Partnership Co-ordinator
Responsibilities: Make Staff, pupils, parents and community
partners aware of the VLP. Help Organise fun and exciting
resources that girls can access from home to help their learning.
Work with the webmaster to run the VLP. Look for ways to make the VLP more relevant/fun/appropriate for all who use it.
Plans for the next 6 months: Get all the hardware/software installed. Introduce
the VLP to year 9 pupils. Help HODs to develop ideas about how the VLP can be
used for their subjects.
Prior Experience/Knowledge: Have dealt with many community groups and
work with HODs as Teacher in Charge of Leisure and Tourism.
Name: Mr Mercer
Role: eTwinning Coordinator and Assistant ICT Coordinator.
Responsibilities: To develop eTwinning throughout the school across all year groups. This is a European scheme to develop closer links with other schools in Europe by doing joint projects over the Internet. My role as Assistant Coordinator Is self explanatory. I will assist the ICTCoordinator!
Plans for the next 6 months: I plan to run an eT winning project with some year 13 pupils as a pilot. If this goes well I will be encouraging other members of staff and pupils to get involved.
Name: Mrs L Watson
Role: ICT Coordinator.
Responsibilities: Promoting ICT throughout the school. Organising KS3 accreditation Scheme.Encouraging all subjects to utilise ICT to promote learning. Developing links with Feeder Primaries and Community groups to aid them where
deemed necessary with ICT developments.
Plans for the next 6 months: Establish a computer club for year 8. Support and encourage staff/pupils with ICT development. Continue to work with Feeder Primaries to deliver ICT lessons and staff development.
Name: Karen Stuart
Role: Assistant ICT Coordinator (community based).
Responsibilities: Working with community and some primary schools to provide ICT support in lesson material and hardware/software.
Plans for the next 6 months: Work alongside primary schools as well as community groups to provide guidance and ICT support to meet their requirements.
Prior Experience/Knowledge: Teacher of ICT worked with community groups through church contacts.
Name: Natalie Clarke
Role: Coordinator of School Magazine.
Responsibilities: To produce a bi-monthly E-magazine and the end of year reflections magazine. To work alongside the editorial team to carry out interviews, take photographs, and gather school news. A further responsibility is to liaise with the specialist school team.
Plans for the next 6 months: To produce an online magazine every two months beginning in November. To develop links with selected partner primary schools and community groups.
Prior Experience/Knowledge: Teacher of ICT for past two years within Girls Model School.
