Carr‘s Glen Primary School
Approximately fifty Primary Seven pupils from Carr‘s Glen have been attending the Girls Model on Friday afternoons since the end of September. They are accompanied by one of the P7 teachers, Mr Gault who takes half of the group to one of our computer rooms. The other half of the group work with Mrs Stuart (and in her absence Miss Purdy) in another computer room. To date the pupils have been working on Bullying using a Virtual Learning Environment created by Mr Gault and through this they have had the opportunity to perform a variety of ICT tasks and complete on-line assignments. The pupils are taking a short break from the sessions due to the 11+, and we wish all those sitting the exams the very best of luck. When they return, we hope to use PowerPoint to create presentations.
Shankill Women‘s Centre
A small group of ladies, introduced to us through the Shankill Women‘s Centre, have been attending sessions on a Thursday afternoon. During the sessions, taken by Mrs Stuart (and in her absence, Miss Purdy), the group have been working towards Clait Unit 1, which is a qualification in Word Processing. They have learnt how to perform a variety of tasks such as inserting text, changing font, inserting tables and creating files and folders.
