Is it a bird?
Is it a Plane?
NO! --------- It's "Super Donnelly"
For the first time ever in the history of the school, the Home Economics department has a MALE teacher.
What a surprise for the pupils (and the staff!) when Mr Stephen Donnelly took up his new post on Mon 25TH September 2006.
Mr. Donnelly had previously taught in a local primary school, when a change in fortune meant he applied for the post in the Home Economics Department in the Belfast Model School for Girls. Mr Donnelly had been a Boy‘s Model pupil and had even spent some time in the Girls Model as part of a joint Boys Model/Girls Model Sixth Form!
Having trained as a primary school
teacher and also as a chef, Mr Donnelly decided that this post would be very suitable for him.
I am pleased to report that he fitted well into his department, being a pleasant surprise for some of his ex-primary school pupils when he turned up teaching them Home Economics! He has brought with him Valuable experience not only for his Home Economics pupils but also first hand experiences for the students in Year 13 & 14 who is following the CACHE Early Education Courses.
We look forward to having his expertise in the department for many years to come.
