9M’s project with Our Lady of Mercy

9M have joined together with Our Lady of Mercy to talk about religion and to meet other people that they never come across in life. This is a one year course which hopefully will be an exciting time for all of the girls. At the end of the course, the girls will be taken out for the day to Londonderry/Derry for a study of diversity in the ity Verbal Arts Centre and walk on the City Walls.

Their first meeting was on the 11th November when girls from 9m went up to Our Lady of Mercy. The Year 10s also went up to have a workshop with girls from our lady. Our Lady had a show on for all the girls. The show was performed by the Armagh Rhymers who dressed up in big baskets on their faces. They also played a lot of Belfast songs. One of them was Tell me ma which was familiar to everyone.

The next meeting the girls had with Our Lady of Mercy was in Girls Model on the 11th of December. This meeting was all about identity and diversity. We were placed into groups which were mixed between the two schools and got to know each other. They then learnt about Flags and what they represented. The meeting ended by talking about what they thought of the day and what they have learnt so far in the course.
