Internet Safety

In today‘s world technologies are ever advancing and new gadgets seem to be developed on a daily basis. One of our most powerful resources is the Internet. Unfortunately this tool can be extremely dangerous if it is not used appropriately.

As a teacher in the Belfast Model School for Girls I was extremely aware of how many of our students use the Internet for various reasons, the most popular being to chat to their friends online. In attempt to educate Year 8 pupils about this issue I decided to start a Computer Club. This was held every Wednesday afternoon in CP3 from 3:35pm until 4:30pm. Pupils were very excited about the club and enjoyed participating in all the activities. On completion of the course all girls received a certificate and small gift to recognise their competence in Internet Proficiency.
