Hi. If you feel you would like some additional support in school please call in and see me or pop a note under my door and I will get back to you. I try to offer an initial assessment appointment that day and give you a counselling slot as soon as one is available. This year so far I have seen 127 pupils across all year groups for a whole range of issues.
I am also running a support group on a Friday. Please let me know if you would like to be a part of a group to get support with any problems.

Counsellors Room.
This year and next year I will have a counselling student with me on placement every Friday. She is called Vianna and she has included some details about herself below.
Hi. I’m Vianna Renaud and I have had the pleasure of spending every Friday here at the Girls Model since the academic year began in September. I am a current student at Queen’s University in counselling, I am on placement here under Janet Duncan. I love being here and working with the pupils, especially when it comes to helping them help themselves.
Originally from California, I have been in the UK since 2001 and in Belfast since 2005. I spend the rest of the week working at the Widening Participation Unit of Queen’s University which focuses on helping secondary school pupils make informed decisions about their futures. In my spare time I volunteer at NICHS, a local cross community relation’s organisation, explore the many nooks and crannies of the Cathedral Quarter of City Centre, and spend some time checking out the local arts and culture scene.
My 4 favourite things at the Belfast Model School for Girls are:
- The Girls! The pupils are absolutely brilliant and I’m amazed at what I learn from them every week. My knowledge of hot and ‘wicked’ music of the moment is off the chart.
- The staff. Without a doubt it is clear to me that the school staff is beyond the ‘average’ and ‘ordinary’ school staff. They wear their dedication and passion for the pupils and the school on their sleeves, which in my experience, is quite rare.
- The uniforms. How can anyone go wrong with the bright red, gold and blue? Definitely something to wear with pride! I keep thinking I’m going to have to get myself one.
- The view on the hills. Every now and again I have the chance to look out through the school grounds onto the hills off in the distance and I have to say that is a lovely sight!
