What is e-twinning?
E-twinning is a Europe wide project that brings schools from different countries together to run Internet based projects. It occurs every Friday morning in lab two with Mr Mercer taking the lead.
This year Mr Mercer has provided an enrichment class for year 13, and they are participating in a project with a school in Budapest, Hungary. After the girls exchanged hello‘s and gave an introduction of themselves, they start to share information on their local communities such as local festivals.
There are thousands of schools that get involved in e-twinning, because it provides pupils with good ICT skills and broadens pupils horizons by learning about other cultures and communities.
Mr Mercer ran two projects last year as an enrichment class, along with Mrs Campbell who carried out a project with her year 14 French class. Her class twinned with a Parisian school and shared headlines and stories from local newspapers, which they then published on a website.
So far progress has been good with the current e-Twining class, and the girls love it. They have completed their initial emails to a Hungarian school and are also completing PowerPoint presentations.
"It's good to talk to people in different countries, it‘s really interesting to learn about other cultures and see how different people live in different parts of the world!" Margaret (Year 13)
The girls are looking forward to the rest of the year with their connection to the school in Hungary!
