The Summer Scheme ran from 27th July to 3rd August. Information leaflets were sent by mail drop to each household and to each of the feeder Primary Schools. As a result of this 104 people enrolled over the 2 weeks, 22 members of staff were employed, 5 class room assistants facilitated the programme.
The aims of the Summer Scheme were to:
- Ease transition from P7 to Year 8
- Improve confidence and self esteem
- Develop new skills
- Create new relationships and friendships
- Keep young people engaged over the summer holiday
Funding was through The Full Service Extended School. Pupils were asked to contribute £1.00 per day to cover the cost of transport. Young Enterprise provided lunch on two occasions for the young people and covered the cost of the sporting activities.
"There was delicious chocolate at the summer scheme - worth being there for that alone! A fantastic two weeks. It was great to have fun and meet up with old and new pupils!". - Mrs Campbell
"Thoroughly enjoyed each and everyday as the activities were exciting and very different. All pupils were really well behaved!" - Miss Cameron
"I loved the Zoo trip, it was my favourite and now I can make rice crispy buns, the kids from the Boys Model taught me how to!" - Miss Brown
"I think the summer scheme was great. It keeps the kids off the streets and keeps them busy during the summer. My child thoroughly enjoyed the scheme and I look forward to many more activities like this" - Catherine Duff (Parent)
This scheme wouldn't be possible without the support of our parent, in which we are very thankful. Also I would like to take the opportunity to thank all the staff who helped out during the week, their enthusiasm and willingness to participate made a great difference and all who where involved enjoyed the week very much.
