Ending 2007 in style and on a lighter note, having some fun as the Christmas holiday approaches and stresses of GCSE and AS/A2 examinations draw near in 2008, once again the Girls and Boys Model have worked together to produce an entertaining, fun filled show. All pupils and teachers had the opportunity to perform on stage showing the school their many talents.

As Mr Graham says ’Work hard and Play hard‘ again our school has shown that we can achieve excellent grades throughout the school especially at GCSE and A Level and also produce shows such as Trash Hits which show there is a sense fun within our school.

Amongst those brave enough to step into the lime light were Irish dancers, disco dancers, hip hop dancers, Performing Arts dance students (who participated as part of their performing arts course) high school musical acts, Spice Girl/Boys, singers, P.E department and Science department - Mr Campbell!

The programme included Philip Hull and Sarah Lunn presenting the performances, which at times, was a difficult job - especially trying to keep a straight face!

The Performing Arts students also took part with Lauren Whyte, Natasha Brown, Natasha Orr, Sara West, Melissa Harrison and Lori Gorman by performing a dance routine which demonstrated the obvious skills of the senior girls.

The year 14 girls from the middle common room decided to let their hair down and choreograph a dance routine to ”Thriller“. Those who took part included Lisa Boy, Megan Beggs, Aimee Gibson, Lauren Whyte, Leanne McKeown, Liza Quigley, Natasha Brown, Carole Grant, Erin Coates, Colleen Mann and Stephanie Watters. Some more girls joined them later in the show to participate in ”I Will Follow Him“ and tried out the Nun‘s outfits - practising for ”Sound Of Music“.

Sophie Campbell and Sarah McIlveen-Wright also demonstrated their vocal abilities by singing ”Break Away“ and ”All I Want For Christmas“. Even Mr Campbell was having a go - I think he thought he was Bryan Adams! Keeping the staff involved, the PE department took part by creating their own characters and ”dancing“ across the stage - Miss Willis, I‘m sure you were very proud!

Spice Girls, ironically four boys from Boys Model acting the Scary, Posh, Sporty and Ginger superstars along with our own Nicola from year 10. Yes, we are naming and shaming them, they were:
· Scary spice: Neil McKinney
· Sporty spice: William Hastings
· Posh spice: Ryan Murray
· Ginger spice: Ryan Barrow
· Baby spice: Nicole Adams

Aimee Gibson and Liza Quigley demonstrated their Irish Dancing abilities, which was such an elegant performance.

Hip Hop dancers from year 10 showed that any age can take part and they really did shine - we will be looking out for them in the future for the Performing Arts class. They were Roxanne Reynolds, Nadine Perry and Michelle Adams. Well Done for being so brave and putting together an excellent routine.

Our Head Girls managed to hide their performance talents for 7 years, but Colleen Mann and Carole Grant performance an excellent routine to ”High School Musical“. It really goes to show that to be a Head Girl you must have a range of abilities and you never know where you might have to participate.

The show concluded with Disco Dancers, Nicole, Jodie Graham and Chelsea Crothers who also backed Mr Campbell - brave ladies!
