As part of the year 13 enrichment course, some pupils have the opportunity to practise their entrepreneurial skills by creating a business to successfully market and sell products. Through the Young Enterprise scheme, the team took on individual roles to create a successful business. The new company, called ”Finishing Touches“, originated on the 19th September were pupils from three different schools (Our lady of Mercy, Little Flower and GMS) joined together to create a team.

Throughout the year the schools worked together to achieve targets for the business which required development of business, team working and interpersonal skills for all members. All the hard work led to the highlight of the year, a trade fair held at the Abbey Centre, to sell the product which was jewellery. It was a very eventful day with judges coming round every half hour to assess the products, stall and sales techniques. Presentation and professionalism were the key elements to the day, in which we definitely incorporated both to make the stall a success.

Everyone enjoyed the day and gained valuable experience in both running a business as well as working in a team. The award ceremony commenced at 2.00pm and we received the award for the best team work - finally all our hard work had paid off.
