Model Performers

Local Actor Applauds Model Performers

September 2007 saw the introduction of a new qualification in Year 11 – Performance Skills. Nine girls are following this course, with six specializing in Drama and three specializing in Dance. In May 2008 the girls had to perform to an external moderator, who turned out to be none other than the well known local actor, Brian Hogg (perhaps better known as “Big Mervyn” in the television show, “Give My Head Peace”) – No pressure then! I am pleased to report that all nine girls achieved their Level 1 Certificate in Performance Skills. “Big Mervyn” said that the dances were “well thought out and performed”, and that the drama pieces were “accomplished with great humour plus well worked out scripts full of observation, timing, prop handling and character work”. The girls worked incredibly hard, and should be very proud of what they achieved. Here are the Drama students pictured in costume, and with Big Mervyn himself.
