The Shared Education Programme is funded by Queen‘s University Belfast and Atlantic Anthropologies, its aim is for pupils from different schools and different backgrounds to have the opportunity to work together and subsequently attain qualifications.
Consequently and as part of 6th form enrichment, a group of Girls‘ Model pupils are working with Our Lady of Mercy and Little Flower pupils through the COPE qualification. When this qualification is completed all of these pupils will be able to collect UCAS points, which can of course go towards university entry.
The class takes place on a Wednesday afternoon and the venue changes each term. Last term Lady of Mercy hosted the class, this term Belfast Girls‘ Model will be the location and next term we will be going to Little Flower School.
The COPE qualification gives girls the opportunity to acquire transferable skills through working on different projects such as Young Enterprise and Schools Across Borders.
Just before the Christmas holidays all the pupils involved took part in a ceremony which showcased and celebrated their work and progress so far. Each pupil is to be commended for their hard work and contributions towards the ceremony. The ceremony indeed reflected the great amount of collaborative work that goes on weekly between the three schools involved.
