2008 ended with the usual first-rate performances with all those ”talented“ enough to perform. What better way to get into the Christmas spirit than to watch members of the Boys Model prance around in dresses and tights? Hosting this year‘s show was the Boys Model Head Boy Aaron Bickerstaff and the Girls Model‘s Samantha Balmer.
The show was kicked off by Zara West and Melissa Harrison, two year 14 Performing Arts students, who performed a rendition of the popular ’Rhythm is a Dancer‘. Westlife made a special appearance to perform their hit song, When You‘re Looking Like That, much to everyone‘s delight. Their act may have been popular but as for their water throwing, well that was a different story.
Other acts included performances by Girls Aloud who sang Love Machine, Spongebob Squarepants and the Geography Geeks! The Year 14 common room also graced us with a performance of the ever popular ’Time Warp‘. The Year 13 Performing Arts class danced their way back in time to the 70‘s to a re-mix of Madonna‘s ’Music‘ and ’Disco Inferno‘.
The X-factor finalist‘s song, ’Hero‘ was impressively sung by Sophie Campbell, Sarah McIlveen-Wright, Lauren Orr, Michael Hagan aka German and Chris. The show was greatly attended with the tickets selling out fast, which proved to be well worth the £2.00 which contributed to this years coming formal. As always a Christmas song finished the show with ’All I Want For Christmas is You‘ which successfully got everyone into the festive mood.
