Presentation of Certificates and Awards 2008
On Monday 17th November, the Girls Model held its Annual Presentation of Certificates and Awards. Past pupil and Head Girl (1990) La' verne Montgomery was the Guest of Honour, since leaving the Model she has achieved a BA Honours Degree and is currently the Head of Human Resources and Corporate Services for CCMS. She gave an inspirational talk about how proud she was to have attended the Girls Model and how privileged we all should feel to be ”Model Girls“. We would like to thank Mrs Healy for attending the evening making it very enjoyable.
This year Mr Graham managed to shorten the length of his speech to JUST 27 minutes which has to be a personal best!! He spoke about the schools progress during the past year and celebrated the pupils‘ achievements throughout the school year of 2007/2008.
The success of pupils‘ achievements was celebrated through the distribution of a number of awards to current pupils and past pupils who have recently left to pursue a career in industry or continue their studies at Further and Higher Education. Some notable awards were presented to those pupils achieving excellent A-level and GCSE results. Nichola Boyd and Cheryl Dinsmore both received awards for best all-round performance for their A-levels. Both girls achieved. Furthermore, Laura Frederick received the award for the best all-round performance for her GCSEs.
The night included fantastic performances from Sarah McIlveen, Model Rock, The Junior Choir and The Chamber Choir. The Orchestra also performed two wonderful compositions by Elton John, John Lennon and Paul McCartney and Andrew Lloyd Webber.
