On the 10th June 4 girls from 10D, Courtney Mason, Demi Harbinson, Natalie Dean and Emma Marks, were selected to take part in a Can‘t Cook Won‘t Cook competition with Jenny Bristow at the University of Ulster, Jordanstown.
The aim of the competition was to provide year 10 pupils in Step-Up schools with the opportunity to create their own innovative, healthy dish.
The girls had to work together in a team and create a mood board and product specification detailing the product name, the reason for designing the product and a recipe. The boards were then submitted and Judged by Jenny and a team of representatives from the University.
75 schools entered the competition and our girls were one of 7 teams chosen to take part in a ’cook-off‘ in the University kitchens.
They had to prepare and present their dish, named ’Chick’a‘licious‘ in front of Jenny and a panel of Judges. Whilst the girls didn‘t win, they had a fantastic day and learned a lot from the experience. They were a credit to the school and a pleasure to be with. Well done girls!
